Memorable Performance
The musician shared a humorous anecdote during a new discussion with Andertons. He reminisced about feeling butterflies before a live performance.
According to Malia, he felt nervous when he was invited to his daughter’s school to speak to her six-year-old classmates.
“The other day at school (my daughter), they had a ‘rock star day’ where they all dressed up like rock stars,” he began. “Her head teacher asked me to come in and play for all the kids in the school hall.”
He continued, explaining that despite being accustomed to playing large shows and performing at massive festivals, the school performance turned out to be “more nerve-wracking than playing at Reading.”
“I just played them some heavily distorted metal riffs,” he added. “For six-year-old kids who had no idea who I was. It was surreal, but they loved it!”
“They were all jumping around and having fun. So it was pretty enjoyable.”

Upcoming Performances
The interview revealed that Bring Me the Horizon is preparing for their performance at Reading & Leeds 2025, where they will co-headline with Chappell Roan, Travis Scott, and Hozier.
While they have previously played at a dual-site festival, their only main appearance thus far was for their epic return in 2022, when they performed alongside Arctic Monkeys in Sheffield. For Reading, they will take the stage on Saturday, August 23, and at Leeds on Sunday, August 24.
In addition to their scheduled performance at R&L, the band will soon go on an Arena Tour titled “Ascension” in 2025, starting this fall.
They will also perform at the Life festival in the United States this September, following slots at Rock im Park in Germany in June. Visit here for UK tickets and here for international tickets.
All shows are in support of their latest album, “Post Human: Nex Gen,” released in 2024, which received a four-star review from NME and was described as “a creative force that transcends its members” and “fully justifies the four-year wait.” It was later named one of NME’s best albums of 2024.

Speaking with NME about their tour production plans, frontman Oli Sykes stated, “We’ve recently started to implement what, I believe, will become the next stage of live entertainment, incorporating augmented reality and immersive visual effects.”
“Until now, what we’ve done has been really cool, but this is just the beginning, and I’m confident that in the next eight months, there will be many more exciting advancements,” he added. “My imagination has been ignited.”
Earlier this month, the frontman got fans talking again when he revealed that he is currently in the recording studio.
