Unexpected Guests Join the Stage

Last night (April 12), during Charlie’s set at the California festival, unexpected guests Troye Sivan and Billie Eilish also joined in.

Presenting the remix “Girl, So Confusing,” Charlie dedicated the performance to his girlfriend, before asking the crowd: “Will you help me sing this song with my friend, please?”

Then Lorde appeared to sing the second verse of the track, her contribution to the remix, describing it as “Brat, but completely different, yet still Brat.”

This collaboration follows the recent release of Charlie’s album “Brat,” where the singer delved into her complex relationship with Lorde, previously revealing her feelings of jealousy regarding Lorde’s success. After hearing the song, Lorde suggested writing a verse for the remix as a way to clear the air.

As the Coachella performance was coming to an end, Charlie informed the crowd to expect it to be “Lorde Summer 2025,” signaling a shift from the “Brat” summer of 2024.

This collaboration seemingly ties into the anticipation surrounding Lorde’s upcoming fourth album, which she hinted at last summer by wiping her social media and sharing a brief sneak peek of new music.

Earlier this week, she released a new track featuring lines: “Since I was 17, I gave you everything/ now we wake up from a dream, well, baby, what was it?/ What was it?”

In a four-star review of “Brat,” NME stated: “On Spontaneous ‘Club Records’, XCX delivers pure hedonism party vibes. It features rhythmic strikes, bold synthesizers, out-of-the-box production, and vocal lines dancing between dark humor and heartfelt sincerity.”

“With ‘Brat’, XCX shows that paving her own way will always sound fantastic,” they added.

Elsewhere this weekend, Lady Gaga performed a theatrical set of five acts, AG Cook brought out Danny Brown for several tracks before remixing Charlie XCX’s “Party 4 U”.

Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day also joined Go-Go on stage to perform his 1984 hit “Head Over Heels,” while disputes were rumored to have occurred during the NoteCap set, leading to an online stream cut-off.

YouTube will broadcast the festival via the Coachella YouTube Channel. Last year’s festival featured performances by Lana Del Rey, Doja Cat, and Tyler, the Creator, along with a host of other incredible artists.
