Knee At Coachella 2025
The band Knee was led by an anti-Margaret Thatcher message during their electrifying performance at Coachella 2025, with fans reporting an intense online reaction soon after.
Performance Highlights
The Irish group took the stage at the California festival, which featured acts like Post Malone, Travis Scott, Missy Elliott, Charli XCX, Megan Thee Stallion, and more on the weekends leading up to the event (April 11), kicking off their set on the Sonora stage.
Their performance included a jibe at former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, whom they had previously referred to as “C*NT”. During their set, they quipped: “Just in case anyone is wondering, Margaret Thatcher is still dead,” which prompted a huge reaction from the crowd, leading them to sing along to “Maggie’s in the Box” under the beat of KC and the Sunshine Band’s “Get Down Tonight.”
The trio, composed of Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap, and DJ Próvaí, are well-known critics of the former Conservative leader and use their platform to make bold political statements, showing unwavering support for Palestine and other causes.

The knee cup’s setlist at Coachella 2025 included:
'These were ages'
'Amach anocht'
'Thart Agus Thart'
'Best way to live'
“Type in the head”
'Your dogs with a pallet
'I BHFIACHA LINNE'
'Fine Art'
'Pull your British'
'HOOD'
Following their performance, many online commented that the livestream was interrupted, claiming the group experienced “censorship” after their pro-Palestine message. Attendees at the festival echoed these sentiments, reporting that the group’s segment, advocating for “Free Palestine,” was cut from the broadcast.
In response, the group addressed their followers on social media, confirming that their pro-Palestinian message was indeed omitted from the livestream. They stated: “This isn’t the only thing that was cut out—the message regarding the US-supported genocide in Gaza was also not shown. We’ll be back at Coachella next Friday to sort this out. Thanks to everyone who gathered at the tent.”
Not only were the messages about the US-supported genocide in Gaza cut out, but they never appeared on the screens.
We will return next Friday to Coachella to address this 🇵🇸

The group’s longstanding support for Palestine was highlighted as they made their message heard loud and clear through social media and public performances. In their cover for NME last year, they openly criticized what they called the “occupation and genocide” of Israel in Gaza and had even raised nearly £100,000 for a humanitarian charity in the Aida refugee camp in Palestine.
Most recently, they condemned Israel for its violation of the ceasefire in Gaza, calling it an offense against “the most vulnerable people on Earth.” Their track “Best Way to Live” includes lyrics that take aim at Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin, labeling him as “Lizal” and “Bending” following his recent meeting with US President Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, Coachella 2024 featured performances by Lana Del Rey, Doja Cat, and Tyler, the Creator, alongside numerous surprise returns and appearances. Check NME for the full recap of the 2024 festival.
