Claire Addresses Graffiti Artists Who Defaced Her Coachella Billboard: “Sadly, This Is Really Impressive”

Clairo Responds to Advertising Shield Controversy

Following the revelation that an advertising shield depicted her performance at Coachella 2025 in a negative light, Clairo expressed her thoughts, stating that Graffiti was “very cool.”

Anticipation Builds for Coachella 2025

As the first weekend approaches, advertising shields promoting artists participating in the festival have started to appear along the highway from Los Angeles to India, continuing a long-standing tradition.

On Friday (April 11), the activist art group Indecline shared a photo of the advertising shield, which they altered overnight. The shield initially stated: “I got fascinated in Coachella,” linking to the singer Juna’s latest album “Charm.”

Indecline later changed the wording from “fucked” to “fucked” on the advertising shield, and the accompanying Instagram post condemned festival-related consumerism, reading: “capitalism at a late stage, the headline of the main scene of America.”

In response, Clairo first commented: “Unfortunately, it is very cool for me. Lol” under the post, and later shared a playful remark on X/Twitter, saying: “If you are lucky.”

Vandalism and Tribute in Advertising

Meanwhile, the electronic duo Snow Stripper also launched their advertising shields featuring the word “gloomy” in large letters, which Stereogum reported was later covered with new artwork promoting other artists.

Back in 2022, Norwegian DJ Matoma purchased several advertising shields along the route to Coachella to raise awareness and funds for efforts to aid Ukraine. In collaboration with music charity UA Saves, the shields read: “Drop Beats Not Bombs” and displayed the blue and yellow flag of Ukraine.

As for this year’s California festival, excitement is building as the Friday headliner Lady Gaga concludes her performance early this morning (April 12).

Despite fans declaring it the “best Coachella show of all time,” many experienced travel issues before entering the festival, enduring some frustrating 12-hour waits in traffic.

The initial lineup of confirmed artists was announced back in November, revealing that Gaga, Green Day, Post Malone, and Travis Scott would serve as headliners. Other artists on the roster include Missy Elliott, Charlie XCX, Megan Thee Stallion, solo acts from Blackpink, JID, Benson Boone, original Misfits, Zedd, The Prodigy, Beabadoobee, Clairo, Enhypen, and many more.
