Memorable Performance by Go-Go’s

The set on Friday (April 11) featured one of the first live performances from the original five members of the “GO-GOZ”—Belinda Carlisle, lead guitarist Charlotte Kaffi, rhythm guitarist Jane Vidlin, bassist Katie Valentina, and drummer Gina Shock Zhok-Zock-Zock-Zock-Za-Za-Za-Za-Za-Za-Za-Za-Zap.

They sailed through the setlist of their biggest hits, including “Vacation,” “Our Lips Are Sealed,” “Skidmarks on My Heart,” and “Lust to Love.” Later during their Coachella performance, the cult group interpolated the chorus from Chappella Roan’s “Hot There!” with their classic hit from 1981, “We Got the Rhythm.”

Armstrong, who is set to headline the California festival with Green Day today (April 12) and next Saturday (April 19), surprised fans by joining the group to perform his hit 1984 single “Head Heels.” Check out the moment below.

The main lineup of Go-Go’s last performed in 2018. They announced a reunion for 2020, but it was canceled due to the pandemic. In 2021 and 2022, they played a brief series of shows to celebrate their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, although Shock was unable to participate due to an injury.

Meanwhile, the California festival will also feature performances from artists like Lady Gaga, Post Malone, Travis Scott, Missy Elliott, Charli XCX, Megan Thee Stallion, and many more over the course of two days.

In other news, Green Day recently released an unexpected new single titled “Smash it Like Belushi,” which is part of the recently announced Deluxe Edition of ‘Saviors,’ their number one album released in 2024.

In a four-star review of “Saviors,” NME stated: “There is an element of nostalgia as the group hits the road to celebrate 30 years of ‘Dookie’ and 20 years of ‘American Idiot’ later this summer. The ‘Saviors’ album connects the gap between their past and present while showcasing the band’s best work.”
