Fans React to Bon Iver’s Latest Release
Fans of Bon Iver are feeling perplexed after group leader Justin Vernon was spotted with actor Christine Milioti and a child in a recording store, sparking discussions on social media.
New Album and Family Photo Surprise
Bon Iver released his fifth studio album, “Sable, Fable,” today (April 11) through Jagjaguwar.
On April 10, the album launch was celebrated at a Wisconsin store where several behind-the-scenes photos were shared, including one featuring Vernon, Milioti, and a child.
The image showcases Vernon seated and holding a small child while Milioti, known for her roles in How I Met Your Mother and Palm Springs, stands behind him, resting her hands on his shoulders.
Confusion Among Fans
Although Vernon is known for being a private individual, there has been speculation about his fatherhood status. Recently, he expressed in a Stereogum report, “Buha, I thought I would have children and a wife and such love in my life. But I have health. I have joy. I have love in my life wherever I look.”
This sparked curiosity from fans about whether Vernon is indeed a father. One user on X wondered, “Wow … Christine Milioti and Justin Vernon together? ???”

“Sable, Fable” marks Bon Iver’s first full-length album since 2019’s “I, I” and follows last year’s EP “Sable.” The album was primarily recorded at Vernon’s April Studio in Wisconsin.
In a four-star review, NME praised “Sable, Fable,” describing it as a “rebirth” rather than a departure from the Bon Iver sound.
It states, “Although this is not Bon Iver’s answer to the ‘Brat’ Summer narrative, many of the same existential questions are explored in ‘Sable, Fable’—records that delve into personal identity, mirroring the twists and turns of life. Fans previously worried this could signal the end of the Bon Iver project, but instead, it appears to be a grand reimagining.”
In related news, Vernon discussed his collaborations with Taylor Swift and Charli XCX on Today’s Show with Jimmy Fallon. Last year, he collaborated with Charli on her “Brat” remix of the song “I Think About It All the Time” and worked with Swift on her 2020 albums, Folklore and its follow-up, Evermore.
During the interview on Fallon, Vernon shared that he had tried Bonnie Wright’s “Time Nick” for a collaboration with Charli, explaining, “My friend Daniel Chaim told me, ‘You should try the ‘Nick of the Time,’ and I said, ‘That’s such a good idea,’ because Charli’s song was about running from time.”
He went on to describe his long-standing friendship with Raitt, calling her “my number one” and “the greatest living singer,” noting that she was enthusiastic about collaborating, saying, “Yes—let’s do it.”
Additionally, Vernon talked about his song “Exile” with Swift, mentioning that he felt “out of body” watching a video of Taylor Swift fans singing along to the track.
