Girl Group Tackles Pressure with Flink Pike Ahead of Debut EP Release

New Single Release

Liverpool-based Girl Group has shared their latest single, 'Flink Pike'.

Track Inspiration

This new track, released through Boys Boys Boys, follows their debut single 'Yay! Saturday' and takes its name from the chant that signifies “good girl.” The band describes the term as a reflection of how young women often strive to meet unrealistic expectations.

“We observe the immense pressure placed on young girls to excel in everything—achieving top grades, being the life of every party, leading student councils, and more. The disparity in expectations between young girls and boys is striking,” they emphasize.

Video Aesthetic

The visually stunning music video, inspired by filmmakers Sofia Coppola and Wes Anderson, was filmed at the Liverpool Ballet Studio, showcasing the group’s members in a surrealistic auditory experience.

Girl Group, which includes members Katya, Maria, Teyu, Mia, and Lil, was formed while studying at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. “We are all very self-assured and feminist, yet we found ourselves in this large musical institution that felt quite exclusive and dominated by males. Even in the studios, we were often treated like guests,” Maria shares.
