Details About “Passiflora”

Last year, it was reported that someone purchased a solo Forge record for the astonishing 5,434 US dollars. “Passiflora” was written by Forge prior to the formation of Ghost and was never officially released.

In a conversation with Chaos (via Blabbermouth), Forge reflected on the record, stating: “I remember feeling a bit frustrated when I wrote songs and recorded them because I didn’t write them in the ideal key for my voice. Those were amateur mistakes.

“Several tracks on the debut album, Ghost’s *Opus Eponymous*, fall into that category,” he continued. “I had to rework them. I had to lower them… but not too late; I can manage that.”

He described “Passiflora” as a “super-ambitious record,” saying, “I was overflowing with emotions and creativity. I had a real vision for this record. It was something unique. If you wrote a love letter and it just vanished into the void, you would want to distance yourself from it as quickly as possible, and that’s how I felt.”

Insights on Ghost’s Future

NME At the start of this year, I spoke with Forge regarding Ghost’s upcoming sixth record, *Skeletá*, set to release on April 25 through Loma Vista. The announcement came as the Swedish occult metal band, led by Tobias Forge, began to hint at the arrival of the new frontman “Papa V Perpetua,” following the well-received Papa IV.

He provided insights into the new frontman, stating, “I can’t provide a description of who he is, but with Ghost, we have a true storyline, along with our background.”

“The concept serves as a humorous commentary, yet it also reflects the themes presented in our albums. Contrary to public misunderstanding, this is not solely about Satan; it’s fundamentally about life. It’s a simple yet expansive concept… I believe the characters are searching for a sense of purpose.”

He also hinted at a potential shift towards film, saying, “I’ve always been equally interested in film and music. In my earlier years, I viewed a career in film as something that would detract from my music, requiring me to start from scratch. Now that I’ve dipped my toes into the world of cinema, I’m beginning to explore where my unique perspective might fit. I believe I can pursue this path.”
