Ador Files Court Claims to Shield New Jehads from Persecution Amid Ongoing Deepfake Contract Dispute

Hybe Ador Increases Legal Actions

On Wednesday (April 9), Hybe Ador announced that it is ramping up legal actions against online harassment and storage targeted at New Jaeans.

This announcement comes amid ongoing disputes concerning the contract between Ador and the K-Pop Group.

Efforts Against Malicious Posts

The agency released a statement outlining its enhanced efforts to combat “malicious posts” across various social media platforms, including Naver, X, and YouTube.

“We would like to inform you about the legal actions taken to protect the rights of Newja,” stated Ador in a statement on X.

“Since the debut of New Jaeans, we have consistently monitored and pursued legal action against malicious online posts aimed at our artists. Recently, due to a rapid increase in the number and severity of these posts, we have allocated additional specialized staff and strengthened our response system,” the translated Ador statement reads.

Ador reported that it is filing criminal complaints against individuals for slander, invasion of privacy, and dissemination of false information about the group.

The agency also noted that a suspect allegedly involved in creating deepfake content targeting members in New York has been apprehended and handed over to prosecutors.

“We are closely cooperating with the authorities investigating the production and distribution of false videos aimed at our artists, and the actual suspect has been charged during their arrest,” Ador said.

This announcement comes as the New Jehads await a court decision on their appeal regarding a ban that restricts them from engaging in independent activities. The group has recently announced an indefinite hiatus amid this dispute.

“We are closely cooperating with the investigative authorities regarding the production and distribution of false videos aimed at the artists, and the actual suspect was sent against the accusation during the arrest.”

On Wednesday afternoon, a closed 15-minute hearing took place in the Seoul Central District Court regarding an appeal related to New Jehads, as reported by Ytn on the same day.

According to the Ador representative, there have been no “significant changes” since the previous trial.

The conflict centers on the New Jehads’ claim that “a breach of trust has occurred,” while the agency contends that the group’s contractual obligations must be fulfilled.

Last week, Ador noted that group members continued to receive payments even as they attempted to terminate their exclusive contract. The agency claimed that New Dzhanian has accrued KRW 12 billion ($8.2 million) since 2023, and that Hybe has invested a total of 30 billion ($20.6 million) to support the New Jaeans’ debut.

Additionally, last week’s trial featured legal arguments from New Jus’ team, asserting that former general director Min Hi Jin‘s removal transformed the current Ador into a completely different corporation from the one they originally worked with.
