The song serves as the first glimpse of Muncey’s upcoming album, set to be released on June 27 through Impressed Records. You can pre-order here.

Details About the New Single

The new single is characterized as a “circling, sincere pearl for piano-drip,” which “Soundtrack reflects on the musician’s time in his then area of North London during the 2011 London riots.”

The statement further noted that Muncey was inspired to write songs after spending time supporting Bruce Springsteen during his 2016-2017 tour.

According to the album statement, “The result is a sophisticated and subtle debut, filled with memorable and often introspective songs that evoke flickering dreams, melodic guitar riffs, and atmospheric indie vibes.”

Musical influences noted in the recording include The Smiths, Talk Talk, Curtis Mayfield, REM, Mazzy Star, The War on Drugs, Roxy Music, and many others.

Insights on Muncey’s Journey

Meanwhile, the statement from Impressed Records added: “The world detached from the narrative of the UP and EM Crunging of his daytime work, Muncey’s debut album is a bold exploration into the wild soundscapes he left untouched in his previous work with the band he formed with brothers Nick and Chris Kester in 2001.

“After three notes, over four million album sales, and a defining hit of the era, Jet called it quits in 2012. Living in London with his wife and young family at that time, Muncey began establishing his songwriting abilities – he co-wrote some of the biggest hits, including Melbourne, and soon after, focused on being a father while taking on odd jobs to keep creatively fulfilled.

“But there was unfinished business regarding music, and the desire to write stunning material returned. As Covid swept across the world, Muncey ignited a creative fire within himself. While some artists struggled during the pandemic, Muncey delved into production, logic, experimentation, and reconnected with his passion.”

Tracklist from “Cam Muncey” and “Delusions of Grandeur”:

‘Arrhythmia’
‘No Rock N Roll Star’
‘Already Gone’
‘I Was Low’
‘Breathing Again’
‘To Risk’
‘Daylight, Dark’
‘You Disappeared on Me’

Last year, Jet returned with their first single in 15 years: “Hurry Up.”

The Australian rockers performed the song during their recent tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of their home country debut, and the track ultimately saw a full release. It was released alongside the B-side ‘Un’Avventura,’ featuring the vocalist and guitarist performing in both English and Italian after living in Italy for the past 15 years.

“Hurry Up” marked our first single in 15 years and served as a teaser while we continued working on our upcoming album,” Kester mentioned at the time. “We performed ‘Hurry Up’ to an excellent response from our fans in Australia, and we are eagerly looking forward to debuting at our international shows in Italy, Great Britain, and the USA.”

The group also embarked on their first UK and Ireland tour in 15 years last fall, celebrating the 20th anniversary of their 2003 debut album, *Get Born*.
