During DeLonge’s absence, Matt Skiba from Alkaline Trio played guitar and provided vocals for Blink-182, contributing to two albums: “California” in 2016 and “Nine” in 2019. Though he departed after DeLonge’s return, Skiba joined the band on stage for “Boring to Death” during their Los Angeles concert earlier this year, where Alkaline Trio was the opening act. Alkaline Trio will support Blink-182 on all 16 dates of this tour.

Upon returning, DeLonge wrote an open letter to Skiba, expressing gratitude for his contributions during his absence. DeLonge wrote, “Hello, Matt, Tom DeLonge here. I wanted to take a minute to thank you for everything you did to keep the band thriving while I was away.” Skiba responded, saying he was “really happy” for his former bandmates and DeLonge.

In other news, Hoppus released his memoir, Fahrenheit-182, today. In an interview Keeper, he discussed how his lymphoma diagnosis in 2021 helped mend his friendship with DeLonge.

Hoppus stated that while he endured grueling chemotherapy and pain, the experience “brought back a friendship I hadn’t had in years.” DeLonge was incredibly supportive, asking Hoppus, “What do you need? I’m here for you.”

It has also been reported that Sublime has been working on their first album since 1996 with drummer Travis Barker.
