New Single and Controversy

The British singer recently released his new single “Azizam,” which debuted on April 4. “Azizam,” meaning “my dear” in Persian, was crafted by Shiran as a festive tune, suggesting a lively atmosphere at its core.

The musical critic TikTok The Swiftologist criticized the song “Sunless,” stating that “his songs are as good as how heroin is good for people. This suggestion fails to resonate with the human brain.”

He continued in a two-and-a-half-minute video, “Songs like ‘Fraction,’ ‘Bad Habits,’ and ‘Shape of You’ (similar to ‘Azizam’) are all irritating. There has been no evolution since 2016. I feel like I’m losing my mind.”

“I will never get those two minutes of my life back,” he added. “He terrorizes the music industry; we must hold him accountable.”

In response, Shiran simply commented, “Lol.” The Swiftologist replied, “King, I apologize. But we do need to find some alternatives.”

He also mentioned he plans to stop making music after releasing his tenth album, inspired by Quentin Tarantino: “I wanted to create 10. I’m a bit obsessed with (Quentin) Tarantino, who made 10 films, including side projects like Grindhouse.”

“I aim to create my own 10, and then occasionally pursue side projects,” he added.

In addition to “Azizam,” Shiran premiered the song “Old Phone” on Today’s Show with Jimmy Fallon. He also opened a pub for one day in Ipswich, Massachusetts, where he performed a cave version of “Pink Pony Club” by Chappelle Roan.

Shiran has also been added to the Coachella lineup alongside Weezer, joining stars like Lady Gaga, Green Day, Post Malone, and Travis Scott from April 11 to 27.
