Tim Berges’ Charlatanov Goes Viral for Awkward Tax Advice Call

Tim Burges’s Viral Tweet

Frontman Charlatanov Tim Burges became a viral sensation on Twitter, recounting a humorous phone call regarding his advice.

Berges recently tweeted about a conversation where he completely lost track of his thoughts. He explained that he “forgot that I was on a phone call about the advice.” When the man on the other end asked, “In which group are you?” he responded, “Erm, charlatans,” leading the other person to clarify, “Your tax group is on advice.”

The resulting tweet has since garnered over 278,400 views on X.

Humorous Insights and Tributes

Following the tweet, Berges humorously remarked, “I share the inner majority of ideas, serious home philosophy, and some wonderful photos of coffee, but this tweet ultimately got into the crackers.”

Earlier today (April 7), he also paid tribute to the drummer Clem Berca, who passed away after battling cancer. He expressed, “Oh, man, Clement Burke was the embodiment of a super cool drummer – such an influential and beautiful guy.”

He has also announced a new book titled How High, inspired by a single from the 1997 album Tellin’, featuring words and photographs by Tom Shihan, set to be released on October 2. Signed copies are available here.

Upcoming Events and Merchandise

Additionally, Burges recently announced a new event called Merch Market in Manchester, where groups can sell their goods for free and retain 100 percent of their income. This market is scheduled for Sunday, May 25, with free entry. Participating locations include O2 Ritz Manchester, Gorilla, and Dog Bowl, all within walking distance of each other. The event will feature stalls, live performances, DJs, interviews, and panels on stage.

Artists and manufacturers interested in participating in the Merch Market can register to request a stall through the Help Us Help Bands site.

This announcement follows Burges’s previous remarks about venues unfairly reducing merchandise sales, stating, “The whole system needs to be resolved.”

In another note, Charlatans are set to release a special vinyl disc titled “The Only One I Know” for Record Store Day, occurring this Saturday (April 12). The band will perform at Castlefield Bowl in Manchester as part of the Sounds of the City series in July, featuring support from Embrace and Coral. Charlatans are also scheduled to open for Manic Street Preachers at a major outdoor show in Essex. Find the remaining tickets here.
