Memorable Performance at MGM Grand

During a performance at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday (April 5), Jacobi Shaddix and his band welcomed the former American Idol winner and country star Underwood to perform their collaborative track “Leave the Light On (Conversation About Darkness).”

Though the two artists recorded the track in the studio previously, this marked the first time they performed it together in front of an audience. Check out the fan footage below.

Advocacy Through Music

Papa Roach collaborated with Underwood on the anthem to prevent suicides, “Leave the Light On (Conversation About Darkness),” last year, donating a portion of their earnings to the American Suicide Prevention Fund (ASPF).

Speaking with NME about why this topic resonates deeply with them, Shaddix stated: “We’ve been singing about it since the beginning. Our first song, ‘Last Resort,’ was a scream for help. This has always been part of our journey and my life. I’ve experienced the highs and lows, and I’ve learned how to cope with it. I know darkness, and I try to connect my music to those who understand it.”

“Every day on tour, I meet someone who tells me, ‘Your music saved my life.’ That wasn’t our intention when we started, but the more honest I became with my songs, the more I realized I wasn’t alone in my struggles.”

He continued: “I am here as a testament to strength and hope, and this is what I want to share with the world. I want to give back because fans have supported us for so many years. They’ve allowed me to pursue this dream and continue to peel away layers through my music. I’ve grown to understand my wounds more, and I just want to do good.”
