Jack Black Leads a Reggae Parody

Jack Black led a parody of reggae on “Welcome to a Black Parade.” Saturday evening on the air – Look below.

The actor and musician made his return to the show for the first time since December 2005, joined by musical guests Elton John and Brandy Carlisle.

Sketch Performance Highlights

At the start of the show, Black appeared alongside actors Kenan Thompson and Ego in a sketch set in Jamaica, where they performed a song titled “Goth Kid on Vacation.” Dressed in a Gothic outfit reminiscent of Gerard Way, Black sang lyrics set to the melody of “Welcome to the Black Parade.”

He sang: “When I was a young boy / My parents took me to Jamaica / for my spring school holidays /.

Later in the episode, John and Carlisle performed “Bible of the Little Richard” and “Whoever Believes in the Angels” from their collaborative album released on Friday (April 4). They were joined by Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer Chad Smith for the tracks.

The episode also addressed Morgana Wallen’s abrupt departure from the show last week. During the “Cold Opening,” Donald Trump, portrayed by James Austin Johnson, quipped: “Get me to the country of God, right? Remember this?” as a nod to Wallen’s social media remarks following his exit.

In the segment “Weekend Update,” Colin Jost commented, “It was the worst week for the stock market since the summer of 2020. But you must remember that back then, the president was also Trump. Just in the past two days, investors have lost more than 6 trillion dollars. Money is leaving the stock market faster than Morgan Wallen at Goodnight.”

Black’s Return and New Music

Before the episode aired, Black admitted that the thought of returning to SNL gave him “night horrors.” He was there promoting his new film Minecraft Film, which is currently in theaters.
