Original Drummer Tony McCarsall Delivers OASIS Message Ahead of Reunion

Tony McCarroll’s Reunion Message

Tony McCarroll, a former drummer of Oasis, shared his thoughts with the group in anticipation of their long-awaited reunion tour this year.

McCarroll’s Background with Oasis

McCarroll was one of the founding members of Oasis in 1991, contributing to the debut album “Definitely Maybe” with tracks like “Supersonic” and “Shakermaker” before his departure in 1995. He was dismissed from the band and subsequently sued for royalties.

Earlier today (April 4), McCarroll posted a letter to the group on Instagram, accompanied by an older photo of himself. “Almost a lifetime ago, several guys from the same background came together and created something special,” he wrote. “Something timeless, the beginning of a movement that is still very much alive with the last true band before the world changed.”

“Oasis captured the spirit and minds of people; we resonated with them, and they felt it. Communication,” he added, noting the increasing number of young fans attending his Q&A events over the past two years.

“The circle is starting again, guys. A new generation, ready to embark on their journey of listening,” he stated. “In fact, I envy this blank canvas a little, on which they are about to begin.”

Expectations for the Future

“Guys, the world is eager to see this, everyone says. Time “feels,” and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds,” he remarked. “Liam, Noel, Bonehead, Gem… (I hope I didn’t miss anyone) good luck with everything, and don’t forget to stop and enjoy it! If the drummer fantasizes about being a part of Supersonic at Heaton Park, give us a shout;)”

“It’s amazing that what we started in our early days became this,” he added. “Be proud. I’m thrilled! Enjoy it.”

Drummer Alan White stirred excitement last year when he posted a photo of his drum kit adorned with the Union Jack design, while McCarroll reflected that the group “did not extend a hand and, frankly, I did not hold my breath” following their public legal disputes.

In March, leading up to the tour starting July 4 in Cardiff, sources close to the group informed NME that the band will include Andy Bell, Gem Archer, Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, and Joey Romper, alongside Noel and Liam Gallagher.

Last week, Noel spoke out regarding ticketing issues that arose when tickets went on sale in August of last year. “I thought it would be a big deal, but I was a bit perplexed by how significant it actually was,” he stated.

Ticket sales caused additional frustration among fans when they discovered inflated prices due to “dynamic” pricing (automatic increases in response to demand). Both the CMA and the European Commission are investigating this matter.

In response, Oasis stated that they “never anticipated that dynamic pricing would be utilized” during the sale, asserting that “previous discussions among promoters, Ticketmaster, and the band’s management had led to a positive ticket sales strategy that would provide a fair experience for fans, including dynamic tickets, aimed at reducing common ticket prices and compliance with expectations.”

Subsequently, the group announced a “small step towards remedying the situation” with an “invitation-only ticket sales strategy” for two additional Wembley concerts on September 27 and 28.

“Some Might Say,” the last song recorded by McCarroll with Oasis, is set to be re-released on vinyl at the end of this month to commemorate its 30th anniversary.

Fans are also speculating about the final setlist since 2009 to get an idea of what they might perform in July. See NME for details on the upcoming massive concerts.
