Matilda Mann’s New Release
Matilda Mann has unveiled her rendition of 'There will never be another, you' as part of the upcoming 'Cheet Baker Re: Imagining' project.
Album Overview
This track precedes the full album, which features interpretations from various artists, including Dodi, Matt Maltez, Mxmtoon, GrentPerez, and Benny Sings. The collection reinterprets Baker’s work across multiple genres, blending jazz, pop, soul, and R&B with contemporary production techniques.
Musical Interpretation
Mann combines her vocals with orchestral arrangements, drawing inspiration from Baker’s album featuring strings. Her interpretation includes accompaniment by violin, viola, and cello.
“Music, even Baker’s, seems to have found a way into the hearts of many over the years,” Mann states. “His music has consistently withstood the test of time across generations, and I’ve loved watching my voice grow while experiencing so many different interpretations of his songs. That’s why it was particularly special to be invited to create my own version.”
She adds: “It will never be the same; it’s such a bittersweet song—loving someone deeply, yet coming to terms with the fact that you’ll never have that with someone else again. The emotions felt both romantic and painful, so I chose to create a more ballad-like version with strings and piano to truly express my love for this new interpretation.”
