Caity Baser Collaborates with OH Wonder on New Single “Running from Myself”

Caity Baser’s New Release

Caity Baser has released her latest single, 'Running from myself', under Capitol Records.

Inspired Sound and Artistic Direction

This track was co-written and performed by Baser alongside Oh, amazing. It features a Motown-inspired production with live instruments, including a 14-piece string section and six brass players.

The new single continues the artistic evolution evident in her previous release, “looks at this girl (she will say this),” marking a shift from earlier works like the UK top 40 hit “Pretty Boys” and her top 10 mixtape “Still studying” with tracks such as “X & Y.”

“While in the studio with OH Wonder, we were working on some songs when one of us mentioned: ‘He feels like you are running away from yourself’… In that moment, inspiration hit. Within 15 minutes, the song mostly came together so naturally,” Baser reflects. “The lyrics explore the internal conflict of feeling torn between what’s ‘bad for me’ and what’s ‘good for you’ during times of emotional struggle that I couldn’t share, as everyone perceived me to be so confident when the reality was quite the opposite.”

The Brit Award nominee expressed, “People have told me that my music has helped them gain confidence, whether in overcoming their past or feeling inspired. I am incredibly grateful for this, but there have been times when I felt the need to wear a mask. I project this energetic, silly persona, yet there are moments when I just don’t want to be that way.”
