Michael Clifford of 5 Seconds of Summer Unveils His Debut Solo Single “Cool”

Michael Clifford’s Solo Endeavor

Michael Clifford from 5 Seconds of Summer has unveiled his debut solo single 'Chill' through Hopeless Records, along with the announcement of his forthcoming solo album 'Sidequest'.

Exploring Themes of Self-Doubt

The track, co-produced by Clifford, along with JT Daly and Andrew Goldstein, features contributions from his 5 Seconds of Summer bandmates Kalum. The song delves into themes of self-doubt and navigation, examining the uncertainty of trying to fit in and questioning one’s place in unfamiliar situations.

“This song speaks for itself, and I hope that when fans hear the lyrics, they will understand me a little better,” Clifford shares. “I have been working on this music for a long time, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it – and ‘Chill’ – this is just the beginning of what’s to come.”

Accompanying Music Video and Vulnerability

The single is accompanied by a music video directed by Bobby Hanford. “It’s rare to work with an artist who is willing to embrace a bit of silliness and hold a mirror up to themselves,” Hanford explains. “The funny thing is that this kind of vulnerability resonates the most with the audience. When I first heard ‘Chill’, I realized that Michael was already there, truly letting down his guard. He transformed his internal criticism into a path of insecurity that anyone can relate to.”

Clifford's debut solo album, “Sidequest”, will be released through Hopeless Records.
