New Streaming Service Launched
The HYBE SUPERFAN WEVERSE platform has introduced a new music streaming service named PARTY PARTY.
This innovative service enables artists and fans to connect in real-time, allowing users to enjoy curated playlists together while discussing their favorite tracks.
Spotify has been integrated as the primary streaming partner for this new offering.
According to Waverse President Joon Choi, users will need both a premium Spotify subscription and a Weverse account to take part in the parties, as confirmed in a forthcoming interview with MBW.
Exclusive Features for Members
While all Weverse users can participate in these listening events, hosting capabilities are reserved for subscribers of the Weverse digital membership program, a monthly service that originated in December of last year.
WeightDigital membership unlocks additional features for an extra fee, including hosting options for listening parties, real-time translation in 13 languages, autonomous mode savings, AI-enhanced video quality, and more exclusive benefits.
Hybe’s Chief Financial Officer, Köng-June Lee, stated that although the digital membership service is “at the initial stage,” profits are “expected to rise gradually,” with revenue recognition set to commence in January 2025 following a free trial version for users.
The “Artist-Activism” segment, encompassing merchandising, licensing, and the Weight Superfan platform, is projected to grow 14.5% year on KRW 809.29 billion (593.56 million dollars) by 2024.
Weverse asserts that listening to parties “offers a new method of communication” between fans, artists, and labels through music.
The platform emphasizes that “fans can gather to express their support while providing tangible benefits to their favorite artists through active streaming.”
For artists, the new streaming service “Party” provides an innovative way to engage with Superfans, while labels can leverage this feature for promotional campaigns during new music releases.
“The main priority of Weverse is the proposal of the final experience of fans,” –
Joon Choi, Weverse
Joon Choi emphasized the strategic vision behind this launch, stating, “The main priority of Weverse is to provide the ultimate fan experience.”
“Through services like listening parties, Weverse is committed to fostering continuous engagement between artists and fans while offering artists the chance to utilize extended opportunities for direct interaction.”
The introduction of the new streaming service comes three months after Weverse released its 2024 Global Fandom Trend Report, which highlighted a 30% annual growth in artists on the platform, totaling 162.
Currently, Weverse boasts 9.4 million monthly active users as of 2024 (see below).
Weverse also reached a significant milestone with 150 million total global downloads in 2024, during which artists shared around 206,000 posts on the platform. Fans sent a staggering 370 million messages and distributed 4.88 million digital fans.
Weverse Live, the real-time video function, hosted 5,787 broadcasts, totaling 4,779 hours of content that attracted 11.25 million viewers and garnered 426 million overall views.
In recent months, the platform has drawn well-known international artists, including Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa, Megan Thee Stallion, and Conan Gray.
Joon Choi recently took part in SXSW SESSION, titled Future of Music: Creating a Superfan-Oriented Business to discuss superfans in the music industry.
“As fandoms reach a certain level, their needs extend beyond the typical social networks, making specialized platforms like Weverse essential for fan engagement,” noted Choi.
“Weverse serves as a unique platform for superfans, combining e-commerce, streaming, and community functionalities needed to satisfy their evolving demands.”
He also stated: “Artists and fans know that Weverse is where the most loyal and devoted fans gather, creating a unique environment for meaningful interactions.”
