Morgan Wallen Abruptly Exits SNL Before Show’s Conclusion

Unexpected Exit from SNL

Morgan Wallen made a sudden departure from Saturday Evening on the Air before the show concluded, drawing significant attention from the audience.

The country singer was the final musical guest featured on the show, which aired last Saturday (March 29), hosted by Oscar-winning actress Mikey Madison.

During a typical end-of-show roll, the SNL cast usually celebrates with the host and musical guest. However, Wallen appeared to shy away from the cameras right after Madison’s farewell greeting.

Performance and Social Media Buzz

During the episode, Wallen performed two songs from his upcoming fourth album, “I’m Is the Sgree.” He was seen with the cast and host saying goodbye to the audience, a ritual familiar to the long-standing comedy show.

Afterward, Wallen leaned in to whisper something to Madison before hugging her and leaving the stage, without acknowledging the cast. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, Wallen later shared an Instagram Story featuring a photo of his private plane, captioned, “Get me into the country of God.”

The audience quickly turned to social media to interpret Wallen’s abrupt exit as a potential snub of the cast. One user pointed out that Wallen stood at an unusually great distance from Madison. “Am I missing something? It seems like the actor is quite far from the host and musical guest. This all feels strange,” they wrote on Twitter.

“Damn it, you can feel it in the atmosphere: it was one of the worst,” another user commented. A report by Variety claimed that sources close to Wallen stated he had a good time on the show filmed in New York, and that his exit and Instagram post were not intended to disrespect his performance.

Wallen continues to be a contentious figure, particularly after past incidents involving racial slurs that led to his removal from several radio stations and his record label, Big Loud.

Despite this, his album “Dangerous” saw a surge in sales, holding the number one spot on the Billboard 200 for a record-breaking ten weeks. Wallen expressed that he was “embarrassed and regretted” his actions, asking fans not to defend him.

Earlier, the country star disregarded CDC recommendations during the COVID-19 pandemic in October 2020, leading to the cancellation of his planned SNL debut. He later appeared on the show two months later, joking about parties without social distancing in a sketch.

Since January, Wallen has been teasing and releasing tracks from his upcoming album, which is scheduled for release on May 16. In addition to the two songs he performed last night, he has also released “Superman,” “Smile,” and “I’m a Little Crazy.”

The title of Wallen’s upcoming album is believed to reflect some of his recent public controversies. In addition to the scandal in 2021, reports indicated that the singer faced charges of reckless endangerment and vandalism after an incident in April last year where he threw a chair from a bar rooftop in Tennessee.
