Rapper Young Scooter, who collaborated with Future and Young Bandit, has tragically passed away from injuries sustained while fleeing the police.

Incident Details

Atlanta’s police department reported in a press conference yesterday (March 28) that the 39-year-old succumbed to injuries after he injured his leg on a fence while trying to escape the police during a 911 call related to a disturbance at a residence on William Nayv. He was transported to Grady Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Kenneth Edward Bailey, known as Young Scooter, was confirmed as the deceased, according to Diversity. Interestingly, this day also marked his 39th birthday.

According to the Atlanta police, officers responded to a 911 call regarding a “dispute with weapons,” as the report indicated that shots had been fired. It was also reported that a woman was “caught up in the location.”

“Once the officers arrived, they knocked on the door. The man opened the door and immediately shut it on the officers,” stated Lieutenant Andrew Smith during the press conference.

“During the process of setting up a perimeter, two men ran from the back of the house.”

“One man returned to the house, while another jumped over two fences in his escape. When the officers found him on the other side of the fence, he appeared to have a leg injury,” he continued. “The officers rendered assistance, and he was taken to Grady Hospital, where he was later declared dead.”

Smith clarified that the individual’s injury occurred during his flight and was not inflicted by the officers on the scene.

Tributes and Career Highlights

Playboi Carti and Quavo were among the first to pay tribute to the rapper, with Carti sharing the news on his Instagram stories with the caption “SMFH”.

Quavo expressed disbelief with a broken heart emoji and prayer emoticons, writing “Ion to understand” alongside a video of Scooter’s performance.

Young Scooter began his rap career in 2008 before signing with Future’s Freebandz label in 2012. He collaborated multiple times with Future, including the late Juice WRLD on ‘Jet Lag’ in 2018. In 2013, Scooter also signed with Waka Flocka Flame’s Brick Squad Monopoly label. Additionally, in 2016, he collaborated on ‘GUVP’ with Quavo and Offset of Migos.
