Primus’ Les Claypool Puts Beloved Tourist Bus “Big Marge” Up for Sale on eBay

Primus frontman and bassist Les Claypool has put up his “beloved” tourist bus for sale on eBay for 152,000 US dollars (117,423 pounds).

The 1998 Marathon XL, affectionately nicknamed “Big Marge,” can comfortably accommodate up to six people. It features wooden floors, double sofas, smart TVs, and what is described as a “very unique rich” interior.

According to the listing, the bus has covered over 300,000 miles throughout the years.

The auction comes shortly after the band announced its new drummer through a global open call for auditions.

In October, the group expressed their shock over the departure of longtime drummer Tim Alexander, sharing on social media: “Currently, we are accepting applications from all points in the universe for the position of drummer/percussionist in Primus.”

The successful candidate, John Hoffman, a drummer from Shreveport, Louisiana, announced significant news last month on YouTube.

After the auditions, Hoffman remarked: “Good luck is when preparation meets opportunity. I showed up and did my job to the best of my ability. It turned out as well as I could have hoped. Meinard James Kinan sat right in front of me and witnessed all of my audition. He even gave me a towel. It was one of the most incredible days of my life. I love you all. We did it.”

Reflecting on his decision to leave, Alexander said, “Over time, I began to realize that it was affecting my physical life, my mental health, and my family life. My heart simply wasn’t in it,” he stated.

“When I recognized I was struggling with these issues, I had to take a step back and evaluate my direction,” he continued. “I always thought, ‘I’m a drummer; I’ll be involved in music,’ and everything else that followed was a result of that.”

Hoffman’s debut performance is expected to take place during the upcoming Sestant tour later this year, with Primus joining Puscifer and A Perfect Circle.
