Lucy Dacus Confirms Relationship
Lucy Dacus has publicly confirmed her romantic relationship with Julien Baker – see what she said below.
Fans Suspected a Romance
Dacus and Baker, both members of Boygenius, along with Fibi Bridgers, have been the subject of speculation among fans for some time. Sharp-eyed fans suspected that the two musicians were involved in a secret relationship.
Speaking to A resident of New York, Dacus confirmed that she is in a “devoted relationship” with Julien Baker while discussing her upcoming album “Forever Is Sense.” Given their individual fame as well as their group success with Boygenius, Dacus expressed concern over the potential for parasocial relationships and prefers to keep her connection with Baker largely private: “Only a handful is required so that your life feels very easily threatening.”
However, Dacus does not shy away from incorporating her personal life into her upcoming album: “It was interesting because I want to protect what is precious in my life, but, frankly, to make art true.”
“I think that maybe part of this simply trusts that this is not at risk,” she continued, referring to a specific song that largely alludes to their relationship. “Maybe a healthier way to think of this is that it is actually not fragile.”
The fourth studio album by Lucy Dacus, titled ‘Forever Is Sense,’ is set to release on March 28 through Polydor/Geffen. (Pre-order your copy here) So far, four singles from the LP have been released: “Conversation,” “Ankles,” and “Limitation,” all of which debuted in January, along with “The Best Assumption” last month. Recently, the 13-track tracklist for “Forever Is Sense” was revealed, accompanied by unique illustrations from Nicole Jacqueline Smith.
Among the remaining ten tracks that fans have yet to hear are “Calliope Prelude,” “Modigliani,” the title track “Forever Is Sense,” “The Most Wanted Person,” and “Lost Time.” Additionally, Hozier will feature on the album, particularly on the track “Bullseye.” Although Hozier is the only confirmed guest, there are reports that Blake Mills, Bartis Strange, Madison Cunningham, Collin Pastore, Jake Finch, and Melin Duterte will also contribute, alongside contributions from Boygenius colleagues Bridgers and Baker.
Dacus also announced a run of UK and European shows this summer, including a performance at the Academy O2 Brixton in London on June 26 and at the Glastonbury Festival in 2025. The artist is also slated to perform at Formy Farm on Saturday, June 28.
