The American Caralian singer released Orquídeas in January 2024, followed by the luxurious Orquídeas Parte 2 in August. The former was featured in NME‘s list of the best albums of 2024 midway through the year.

In a recent interview with 10 Magazine, she revealed that she is working on her next LP, which is tied to a “changing event.”

“In a very mystical and beautiful way, I had the honor that my albums became more significant than I originally intended, shaped by the journey of my life,” she shared with the magazine.

Although she did not disclose the nature of the event, she mentioned that the entire record would be dedicated to it, including an unspecified release date.

“The album discusses the challenges of life and finding joy despite the world’s hardships. It’s about valuing every moment and not taking life for granted. It’s special to appreciate each day,” she explained. “This is my most existential and honest work. It is undoubtedly the most beautiful work for me, and I believe it will be my most significant and impactful.”

Additionally, Uchis mentioned that the album will be entirely in English, emphasizing that it has become “much more significant” following the “turn of events” in her life.

NME reviewed “Orquídeas” after its release, granting it four stars: “The masterful fusion of its cultural worlds in the Dembow-controlled Munekita is remarkable. Featuring JT from City Girls and Dominican rapper El Alfa, the track explores a woman living her best life in the club. Later, Uchis opens her heart in Spanglish in ‘Tu Corazón Es Mío’, where she reveals her pregnancy with Don Toliver.”

“With lush R&B production complemented by Latin percussion, she tenderly sings to her child: ‘I know that you are my completely / all you need inside me.’

“Through its boundary-defying albums, ‘Orquídeas’, Uchis emerges as a fearless pop figure at the forefront of the crossover between English and Spanish music.”
