Impact of the Fall

In a recent conversation with People’s magazine, the Australian-American rocker disclosed that a full-body MRI revealed shocking results stemming from a fall on stage in 2000.

During a performance in Las Vegas, the singer of “Jessie’s Girl” fell 25 feet, hitting his head and subsequently hitting the stage again. At the time, the now 75-year-old rocker thought, “I just broke my wrist,” but was taken aback by the scan results.

Exploring New Avenues

Springfield also mentioned that he has recently experimented with ketamine and LSD to explore whether they might reveal more about his brain. His willingness to try unconventional methods stems from the passing of his father, who “died of not wanting to know.”

Rocker elaborated: “He believed he had stomach cancer for years and never got it checked. When he finally collapsed at home, they discovered that it was a torn ulcer, and he died from blood loss. This condition could have been treated if he’d gotten tested.”

“It was a gigantic message for me: if you want to live long, you should be prepared for some bad news from time to time,” he continued. “I could find out tomorrow that I have terminal cancer and only have a year to live, but I can only do everything I can.”

Next week (March 19), Rick Springfield will kick off the “I Want My 80s” tour alongside John Waite, Vann Chung, Paul Young, and John Cafferty. The extensive North American tour will feature over 30 dates from March to August 10 – Find out more here.
