Brad Arnold’s Diagnosis
3 Doors Down frontman Brad Arnold has revealed that he is battling stage four cancer.
Arnold, known for hit songs like “Kryptonite” and “Here Without You,” took to social media on Wednesday (May 7) to share the news with his fans. “I hope you have a great day today. Today I have a few not so good news,” he began.
“I fell ill a couple of weeks ago, went to the hospital for tests, and was diagnosed with clear cell renal carcinoma, which has metastasized to my lungs, making it stage four; this is not good…”
“But you know what? We serve a powerful God, and He can overcome everything. Therefore, I’m not afraid,” he continued. “Honestly, I am sincerely not afraid.” Arnold confirmed that 3 Doors Down will have to cancel their upcoming summer tour and apologized to their fans.
The North American tour was scheduled to kick off on May 16 in Deuton Bichch, Florida.
Support and Community Response
Clear cell renal carcinoma is a type of kidney cancer, and according to the National Cancer Institute, it is the most prevalent form of kidney cancer. The Cleveland Clinic states that the survival rate for patients diagnosed at the fourth stage is approximately 10 percent.
Following Brad Arnold’s post, several musicians expressed their support for him. Scott Stapp from Creed commented, “If anyone has the faith and strength to face this battle, it’s you, brother. You and your family are in my prayers daily…”
Chris Daughtry added, “Sending you love, my brother,” along with messages of support from Adam Gontier, Rob Halford, Jason Aldean, and Creed’s Michael Tremonti.
3 Doors Down was formed in 1996 by Arnold and former guitarist Matt Roberts, who sadly passed away in 2016. The band’s latest album, “Us and the Night,” was released in 2016, while their most recent single was the 2020 release “Wicked Man.”
