Timeline of Their Relationship
It is widely believed that the two stars dated briefly during the summer of 2023, following Swift’s breakup with actor Joe Alwyn and prior to her romance with NFL player Travis Kelce.
Swifties quickly noticed what they perceived as references to her time with Healy when she released her 2024 album, The Tortured Poets Department, although Swift herself has remained vague about specific interpretations of the relevant tracks.
Recent reports indicate that Healy plans to address this relationship in his band’s sixth album. Sun has announced that the record will feature a song titled “God Has Entered My Body,” which purportedly includes the lyrics: “Keep your head up princess, your tiara is falling.“
This development comes just months after Healy stated in a magazine interview with Doomscroll that he had no intention of writing music inspired by his brief fling.
“I’ve become a much more well-known public figure in the past year for various reasons,” he remarked in November. “I think a lot of artists are interested in their personal experiences and the events happening around them that people know about, which is understandable.”
“Honestly, I’d be lying if I said I could make a record about everything that’s been said about me or my casual romantic affairs – or whatever I’ve become known for, just because I was famous.”
According to fans, in the title track “The Tortured Poets Department,” Swift appears to reference Healy with the lyrics: “You smoked and then ate seven chocolate bars / We stated Charlie Puth must be a great artist“.
Fans have noted that Healy is a chain smoker, often seen smoking during performances, and the mention of “chocolate” may link back to The 1975 song of the same name. Additionally, Swift seems to hint at Lucy Dacus in the title track, whom Healy was once close with.
Other fans have speculated that “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” might refer to the relationship between Swift and Healy. “Was any of this true? / Looking at me with dreamy eyes / In your Jehovah’s Witness costume“, Swift sings, seemingly alluding to Healy’s stage costume typically worn by Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Last June, reports surfaced that Healy was “blown away” by the album, with a source noting he found it “hilarious” since they were “never serious”.
Earlier reports indicated that Healy felt “uncomfortable” with the album’s attention, but was “relieved” it hadn’t escalated further. In Los Angeles, he was approached by paparazzi asking about his “Taylor diss track.” While it’s unclear which song they referenced, Healy responded, “My diss track? Oh! I haven’t really listened to it that much, but I’m sure it’s good.”
The 1975 have not released a new album since their fifth album, Being Funny In A Foreign Language, in 2022. However, Healy got fans buzzing last February when he revealed they were in the process of creating their next album.
This caught many by surprise, especially since the band had recently suggested they would be taking an “indefinite hiatus” after their 2024 UK tour, Still…At They Very Best, which wrapped up in March.
